Bread and Butter Pickles

1 Gallon Cucumbers. 5 cups white sugar
6 large onions 12 tsp, tumeric
2 green peppers 2 tsp. mustard seed
12 cup pickling salt 1 tsp. celery seed
1 Quart cracked ice cubes 5 cups white vinegar

Wash cukes, slice cross wise, thinly. Peel and slice onions. Slice peppers in strips
Mix well with salt and pack in ice (on top). Stand 3 hours with weight on top, then drain well.

Combine rest of ingredients in large pot for syrup and heat to boiling point. Add cucumber mixture & turn to low heat.

Stir constantly until boiling point and place in sterilized jars. These are delicious.
